Ellis is a 60 minute, eight episode historical drama narrative. Set at 1910 Ellis Island, we see the American Dream through the eyes of seven immigrant children from Europe, Asia and the Caribbean, all separated from their families. Despite intense cultural and linguistic obstacles, these seven find a way to come together and take care of each other with a perseverance beyond their years.
A story of hope and resilience, Ellis follows the intertwining lives of both immigrants and staff on the island in December of 1910. Each episode focuses on one of seven immigrant children - running the parallel of their current reality at Ellis Island while diving into flashbacks of their origin stories. We pull back the curtain into their lives before Ellis - the world in their home countries and the events that catapulted their journey to America.
