Nexus introduces Denise, a 25-year-old rebel who has just been released from an eight-year stint in a psychiatric ward for schizophrenia treatment. Her mother, Carol, the CEO of a biotech company, has developed a brain-implant device intended to alleviate her daughter's symptoms, despite them having been estranged during her time at the ward.

Despite the Nexus device gaining FDA approval and acclaim for successfully treating many patients, the company ’s financiers are concerned about the optics of having the "Mental Health Messiah's" own daughter publicly reject the treatment.

Upon her release, Denise reconnects with her friend Nia, who has recently joined an AA program to overcome addiction. At home, however, Denise's relationship with her mother Carol remains strained and Denise battles what seem to be unrelenting hallucinations, frequently seeing a tall, gaunt man with piercing eyes following her.

Growing wary of her mother’s transformation into a corporate mogul, Denise investigates the secrets behind Nexus. Her discoveries lead to a violent confrontation, exposing hidden truths that shatter their lives.
