“What's behind door number three, Johnny? Nothing. There is literally nothing to eat in the entire house.” To add to this challenging situation, it's also the first day of a new school. LITTLE JOE finds himself in the middle of a drama class that has decided to mount a play of the Wizard of Oz. He lands lunch duty, transcribing the video version of The Wizard of Oz as a class assignment, even though he cannot read or write. As a bonus, a free school lunch is provided. However, the weekend is approaching, and the house has no food. So, with the help of his imaginary adult self, FUTURE JOE, Little Joe decides to take matters into their own hands to ensure his two strong-willed sisters CYN and NANE are fed.

Little Joe and Future Joe start skipping school to rob houses, following their golden rule, "Only steal what we need." However, Little Joe has not given up on this new curiosity with the school play. As he fills his bags with stolen food, he also learns the lines of the transcribed script, hoping he’ll land a part in the play…which he does! But only on the condition that no more school is missed.

Follow his dream or feed his family? Little Joe is faced with an impossible choice. HOWEVER-

Using Maslow's "higher-her-archy," inspired by two quarters from a police officer, and hawking newspapers, Little Joe and Future Joe stay in the play, feed the family, and land a “legal” part-time job. Little do they know, they’ve been under the watch of a mysterious social worker who may bring things tumbling down.
