Turnbull is a six episode miniseries that uses the real location of Turnbull Canyon and its associated lore to tell the story of a modern-day Greek tragedy. In this world, dreams meld with reality, fact blurs fiction, while the young protagonists try to make sense of their lives in the midst of a developing crime scene. Drawing on teen horror masterpieces such as Scream and Jennifer’s Body, as well as the esoteric world building of the cult favorite Donnie Darko, Turnbull investigates the dark underbelly of suburban culture, the anxieties of young love, and the struggle for personal responsibility at a time when indulgence and exploration are calling. Through the protagonist’s vivid dreams, the audience, too, goes on a journey of self actualization, confronting the darker forces of the unconscious, and discovering what it may have to teach us. These stories are based on a real location and inspired by real events, including rumors of supernatural ones.
